Here the inherent bipolarity of Djordjević's music comes even more clearly to the fore, particularly as the chosen
material is very sparse and the few motifs seldom exceed a narrow ambitus. Unlike the duets, Do you know how to bark?! is indeed schizoid in its conception, intent less on approaching and blending than on intensifying and isolating wholly antithetic sonic profiles from a single instrument. Hence its subtitle: ‘non-communication for solo contrabass 2.1.1’. The double bass, with its unique potential for extreme and completely divergent sonorities, naturally proves to be the preordained instrument for this conception.
